Sydänmaa was born out of a challenge—and has become one of Friday’s highlights.
The route length requirements created the need to build a more compact overall stage. The result is a special stage that seamlessly combines the best sections from different eras with brand-new roads that have never been used in the rally before.
The opening section takes drivers through the landscapes of the 2010 Sirkkamäki stage before leading them onto completely new roads. Towards the end, the route returns to the historic Kalliokoski sections, last seen in 1993. Sydänmaa is a unique blend of the familiar and the unknown—exactly the kind of combination that creates a classic FIA World Rally Championship special stage.
