Secto Rally Finland 2025 drew an impressive 81,000 unique spectators over the age of 12 to Jyväskylä – more than in any previous year this decade. The total number of visits across different event areas climbed to a remarkable 267,000, clearly demonstrating how widely the rally week activated audiences throughout the region. The event was a comprehensive success, both from a sporting perspective and in terms of organisation – the newly introduced Sunday concept, Ounintai, firmly secured its place in the hearts of rally fans.
The significance of the event extends far beyond the sport itself – it was also visible on the ground. Secto Rally Finland’s national importance has been widely recognised, with several ministers from various sectors of government attending the rally during the weekend. The event also attracted a range of international and domestic influencers, including President of Paraguay Santiago Peña, Richard Hammond, Petteri Kilpinen, Pekka Lundmark, Vilma Luoma-aho, and numerous other prominent figures from the business and public sectors. In addition, many legendary names from Finnish motorsport history were present, adding further prestige to the occasion.
AKK CEO Kimmo Vainio expressed his delight at the success of the event, highlighting its wider significance.
“It was truly fantastic to see how both Finnish and international fans discovered Jyväskylä in a whole new way. Rally is clearly enjoying a resurgence in popularity, and that enthusiasm could be felt in every part of this year’s event. We’ve succeeded in making the rally more accessible and more experiential than ever, and we’re fully committed to continuing that development. This proves that motorsport is alive and thriving,” said Vainio.
In addition to record attendance, the overall event quality and smooth execution earned high praise. The design of services, transportation, and spectator areas prioritised accessibility, clarity, and safety – significantly improving the experience for many visitors. The week reached a thrilling sporting climax when Kalle Rovanperä and Jonne Halttunen claimed victory on home soil. At the same time, Toyota Gazoo Racing locked in positions one through five – a rare and historic result in WRC history.
This year also saw the introduction of a new Sunday format across the WRC series, with Finland placing its iconic Ouninpohja stage at the heart of the final day. The positive reception of Ounintai has laid the groundwork for further development of the Sunday concept, which will be made even more accessible, versatile, and audience-friendly in the future.
Secto Rally Finland also received an exceptional level of media attention. The number of media hits related to the event grew significantly compared to the previous year – over 7,250 in total – marking an impressive 43.6% increase.
Beyond being a world-class sporting event, Secto Rally Finland is also a major meeting point – a “place to be” for those interested in Finnish expertise, business, public-sector networking, and the country’s strong motorsport heritage. Once again, Jyväskylä served as a dynamic stage where sports, economy, and international exchange came together.
Looking ahead, all eyes now turn to the upcoming anniversary edition. In 2026, Secto Rally Finland will celebrate its 75th year, and expectations are high for a spectacular and historic edition of the event. Ticket sales got off to a flying start – early bird tickets sold out in just over half a day. This too is a clear sign that the passion for rallying and the desire to experience it is stronger than ever.
