Finnish driver Sami Pajari continued his strong form in the FIA World Rally Championship by finishing third in last weekend’s Rally Islas Canarias. The asphalt event on Gran Canaria delivered another valuable haul of championship points for Pajari and further strengthened his position among the frontrunners this season.
Victory went to Sébastien Ogier, who claimed his first win of the season. Elfyn Evans finished second, while Pajari completed the podium in third place.
Pajari arrived in the Canary Islands on the back of a strong result in Croatia, but on the smooth and fast asphalt roads of Gran Canaria the outright pace of the front runners proved difficult to match this time. A composed and mistake-free performance, however, secured another important podium finish.
With the result, Pajari moved up to third place in the drivers’ championship standings and continues to build momentum in what has been an impressive start to the 2026 campaign.
The Finnish youngster has quickly emerged as one of the breakthrough performers of the season and remains firmly in the fight at the sharp end of the championship.
