The main traffic impacts of the WRC Secto Rally Finland, held in Jyväskylä & Central Finland from 3rd to 6th August 2023, will affect the traffic in the city center, Mäki-Matti, Harju, and Lutakko areas.
Harju Area
Due to the special stages driven on Harju, streets in the city center, Mäki-Matti, and Harju areas will be closed.
The Harju “green area” and Ihantolantie will be closed on Monday, 31st July at 9:00 PM. The areas will remain closed until Sunday, 6th August at 3:00 PM. Access to properties along Ihantolantie will be allowed.
For the Harju special stages, the following streets will be closed from Thursday, 3rd August at 10:00 AM until Saturday, 5th August at 2:00 AM:
- Yliopistonkatu 2–26. The section between Vaasankatu and Kilpisenkatu. Access to the plot is allowed between Vaasankatu and Cygnaeuksenkatu.
- Yliopistonkatu 26–28. The section between Kilpisenkatu and Asemakatu. Access to the plot is allowed.
- Cygnaeuksenkatu. The section between Kauppakatu and Yliopistonkatu. Access to the plot is allowed.
- Gummeruksenkatu. The section between Yliopistonkatu and Vapaudenkatu. Access to the plot is allowed.
- Kilpisenkatu. The section between Kauppakatu and Yliopistonkatu. Access to the plot is allowed.
- Harjukatu. The section between Yliopistonkatu and Sepänkatu. Access to the plot is allowed.
- Pitkäkatu 35–39, 38–44. The section between Löylykatu and Kortesuonkatu. Access to the plot is allowed.
- Löylykatu. Access to the plot is allowed.
- Pitkäkatu 45–67. The section between Kortesuonkatu and Nisulankatu.
- Kortesuonkatu. The section between Kenttäkatu and Pitkäkatu.
- Kortesuonkatu. The section between Kenttäkatu and Keskikatu. Access to the plot is allowed.
The closed streets will be reopened for traffic on Friday, 4th August from 12:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The following streets will be opened:
- Yliopistonkatu 2–8. The section between Vaasankatu and Cygnaeuksenkatu. Only traffic towards Voionmaankatu will be allowed on this street.
- Cygnaeuksenkatu
- Pitkäkatu
- Kortesuonkatu
Access to properties in the Mäki-Matti residential area will be directed via Kortesuonkatu. Driving will be permitted only for those who have received permission.
From 2nd August to 6th August, the right lane on Hannikaisenkatu, between Urhonkatu and Väinönkatu, will be closed when driving towards the travel station.
Sepänpuisto parking area will be closed from 24th July at 8:00 AM until 9th August at 6:00 PM.
Lutakko area

The Service Park Area for the competition is located in the vicinity of Lutakonaukio and Paviljonki, close to the harbor area. The Paviljonki area will be closed from Friday, 21st July starting at 7:00 AM until Thursday, 10th August at 9:00 PM.
Uno Savolan katu will be closed to traffic from 31st July at 7:00 AM until 8th August at 7:00 AM. Authorized service vehicles and access to properties will be allowed.
The parking area at Satamapuisto will be completely closed from 1st August at 7:00 AM until 7th August at 9:00 PM.
Parking in Jyväskylä City Center
It is important for the rally audience driving to Jyväskylä to take into account the area parking ban in the city center and many residential areas. Parking is allowed only in designated parking spaces marked with a blue P-sign within the restricted parking zone. It is also advisable to remember the off-road parking ban, according to the off-road traffic law, in urban parks, green areas, forests, and unused lands while searching for parking.
For those coming to Lutakko, it is recommended to use the parking garages and parking areas in Jyväskylä city center. During the rally, parking space in Lutakko is available only in the P-Paviljonki 1 underground parking hall located below Lutakonaukio, and it is subject to capacity limitations.
Due to the Harju special stage, parking is completely prohibited on the closed street sections from 3rd to 4th August. The audience is advised to use the city center parking garages and parking areas for public parking.
Only half of the parking spaces at Kuokkala’s Ryytipolku parking area will be available from 3rd to 6th August.
Parking control will be in place around Lutakko and the harbor area as usual, and vehicles causing traffic disturbances or parked incorrectly will be towed away if necessary.
Disabled vehicles, motorcycles, and taxis
During the Harju special stage on Thursday, 3rd August, and Friday evening, 4th August, parking spaces are reserved for disabled vehicles at Nisulankatu 78 courtyard. Space for motorcycles with a Biker’s Pass is provided on Harjukatu.
The taxi stand on Uno Savolan katu will be relocated to Piippukadun kääntöpaikka during the rally period from 21st July to 10th August. In addition to this, the nearby Matkakeskuksen taxi stand and the harbor taxi stand will serve the rally audience.
Changes to public transportation
Due to the closed streets during the Harju special stage, bus routes will be altered. The following bus stops will be temporarily out of service during the special stages: Tilausajo 10, Kirjasto 3, and Yliopistonkatu 1 and 2.
